Meg’s Class: Term 2 Week 4

Hi Everyone,

This week in Science, we continued exploring structural adaptations in animals. On Monday, we investigated how kangaroos move and explored how their tails support balance and body weight. We also looked at their specialised Achilles tendons, which help them hop efficiently over long distances, before creating models to demonstrate this adaptation.

On Tuesday, we explored hands and opposable thumbs by taping our hands in different ways and completing a range of activities. This led into our investigation of koalas and their two opposable thumbs. The children then explored the hand structures and adaptations of other animals.

In English, we continued our Carving Kingdoms unit, focusing on synonyms and sentence structure. The children worked on turning descriptive vocabulary into structured sentences they can later use in their story writing. Many have already begun designing maps and planning their stories.

This week, we finished our triangles and angles topic with a “Write the Room” challenge before beginning our new unit on fractions. The children worked collaboratively to create anchor charts to support their learning.

Well done to Eden, Jojo, Alana, Louie, and Grace, who all presented their PIPs this week!

Sport is on again this week at Pottery Green for Ultimate Frisbee. Please ensure your child brings a drink bottle, hat, and sports shoes.

Please continue checking the class drive for updates regarding afternoon tea and upcoming PIP presentations.

With love,
Meg
