Meg’s Class: Term 2 Week 2
Hi everyone,
We began the week exploring our overarching Mathematics topic of 2D shapes. We will continue this investigation into next week, which will lead us into learning about angles and how to measure them.
There has also been a strong focus on PIPs. The children have been working very hard to navigate a new way of presenting their information. We have explored how to reference and cite sources, which is an important skill as they prepare for high school. The PIP presentation schedule will be shared early next week.
We also had our first sports session in the new program, soccer at Pottery Green. The children learned how to dribble the ball and practised different kicking techniques, as well as when to use them. It was fantastic to see such significant improvement in their skills and ball control over the session. A reminder that specialist sport takes place every Tuesday this term. Please ensure your child wears enclosed sports shoes (runners/sneakers) and brings a drink bottle and hat. Without these items, they may not be able to participate.
It has been wonderful to see the children working collaboratively and supporting one another to complete tasks. Peer-assisted learning has really taken off in this group, and it is lovely to see students confidently asking both their peers and myself for support. It has been a great couple of weeks, and I’m excited to see what the rest of the term brings!
With love,
Meg
