Meg’s Class: Term 1 Week 4

Hi everyone,

This week in our “What Matters?” unit, we learnt about Vivienne Harr, who was just 10 years old when she began her organisation. Vivienne set up a lemonade stand every day for a year to raise money to help end child slavery. We discussed how she identified something that truly mattered to her and then took action to make a difference.

This acted as our jumping-off point as we began exploring our own ideas. If we were to create a stand to inspire change, what would we sell and what cause would it support? We also discussed other ways we could express what matters to us, whether through raising awareness, educating others, fundraising, or sharing why an issue is important to us.

On Tuesday, we had another trip to the pool. We practised our freestyle and breaststroke kicking and made lots of very big splashes!

This coming week, we have Library on Monday with Jess’ class. Please remind your child to bring their library books and, if possible, a library bag.

Week 4 was filled with thoughtful reflection and productive conversations. We’re looking forward to a wonderful Week 5!
