Jess’s Class Term 3 Week 1

Firstly, I would like to let you know that Jess sent a message to say she was safe and well after the typhoon in Taiwan. She is enjoying the IDEC conference and hopes to be back at school next Wednesday or Thursday if her flights are not changed.

It has been fabulous to hear about everyone’s holiday activities and see all the children reconnect so enthusiastically. The classroom was an absolute buzz on Wednesday.

This week in literacy we have written holiday recounts and learnt about adjectives. In numeracy we have explored area and used informal units to cover the area of various shapes. Together with Amelia’s class, we began our unit on Brilliant Bodies and shared what we already know. We had reminders about parts of the body that are private and then came up with questions we would like to know the answers to such as:

“Do we have tails in the womb?”

“How do our bones move and what are they made of? How do bones heal?”

“Why do some people need glasses?”

“Why do we dream?”

“Why is skin soft? Why do we get wrinkles? Why do people have different coloured skin?”

“How does the brain work?”

“Why do we have blood?”

I look forward to hearing all about their Brilliant Body learning in the coming weeks!

Have a fabulous weekend.
