Jess Term 3 Week 7
The warmer weather has meant a beautiful shift into outdoor play. It has sparked sone conversations about sun safety with the children. Please support us by making sure to apply a good layer of suncream in the morning and sending a hat that your child is willing to wear all day.
We’ve continued exploring narratives with by reading the book “The Story of Ping” by Marjorie Flack. After a modelled reading, we reviewed some of the unfamiliar cultural references and examined the story plot before the children broke into groups, summarising the main parts in the beginning, middle and end.
In maths we’ve had fun practicing subertizing and applying different strategies to mental calculations.
We also participated in the The Biggest Child Safety Lesson presented by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Every year, the foundation delivers a different focus point in an engaging on- line lesson and this year‘s focus was enthusiastic consent. Body boundaries, private parts and the need for clear permission were covered in this very engaging on- line lesson.
But the big events of course were both Jump Rope For Heart and Summerhill Day of which there are many photos in the newsletter. It’s been very exciting to watch some children go from not being able to swing the rope over their head in the correct direction, to jumping half a dozen times in a row. It’s been fun trying to respond to all the calls “Jess, Jess… watch me…!”
Happy weekend
