Jess’ Class Week 6 Term 2
Dear Parents,
This week in Maths, we revised and concluded our 2D shapes topic and are now moving on to 3D shapes.
The children worked solidly during their PIP session, with many beginning to assess whether they have enough slides and information. They are also editing and adding visuals. We will miss our PIP session next week due to Summer Hill Day, so there are only two more weeks left to finalise and edit before presentations in Week 10.
In ERICS, before our silent reading time, we revised our dictionary skills and played a group game to find selected words.
Handwriting was a little different this week, as we left our textbooks in our book boxes. Instead, we completed a guided cursive lesson focusing on letters that don’t join to the next letter, such as b, s, and p. Although this is a bit beyond where some of the younger children are at, it was valuable for them to see the reasoning behind letter formation, have a go, and understand what they’re working towards.
See you for our next round of sports choices next week and Summer Hill Day on Thursday.
Enjoy your long weekend!
Warm regards,
Susan

Thanks Susan!
It seems the winter cold that’s been circulating the class got me this week and so it was wonderful to have Susan to step in on Friday as I stayed in bed.
Earlier in the week we began to learn the intricacies of punctuating direct speech, the children continued with narrative writing and in maths we began to explore the inverse relationship between multiplication and division.
Happy long weekend!
Jess
