Jess’ Class Week 3 Term 2

Dear Parents,

We’ve had lots of  fun this week continuing with our learning about the solar system. The children have been tasked with making their own model of the solar system including deciding how they would like to present this. Some children are considering hanging their planets like a mobile, whilst others are considering setting them against a backdrop or turning them into a diorama. There’s lots of talk about size and scale and its been so fun listening to them try to comprehend the vastness of SPACE.

In maths we’ve continued learning about fractions in relation to the set model and in English we’ve been expanding our vocabulary with word studies and developing our writing in relation to activities to do with our class novel “Ralph and Leo”.

Next Wednesday, we’ll be joining Wendy’s group for a day at the Children’s Writers’ Festival at the Chatswood Concourse. There will be five presentations from Australian children’s authors, promising a fun and educational experience. The children will have the chance to purchase signed copies of the books during the lunch break, so please send them with $20-$25 if you’re happy for them to participate. Don’t forget to pack lunch and a water bottle. The bus will leave at 9:00 am, so please make sure your child is at school by 8:30 am.

Happy weekend,

Jess
