Jess and Susan’s group Week 3 Term 4

Dear Parents,

We began our week learning about the Sydney Dance Company and their performance Unungkati Yantatja – One with the Other. Together, we explored how to respond to music through movement—both individually and as a group—coming together to form shapes inspired by the performance. The performance itself was absolutely stunning, both musically and in its dance expression. And lunch at Barngaroo in the shadow of the city and the bridge was just the antidote for a busy term 4.

Despite the rain, Wednesday’s celebrations of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) were joyous and fun. Thank you to the children who chose to perform in front of the whole school, playing their guitars and singing. The costumes on Wednesday did seem to be a warm-up for Halloween on Friday when most of the school came looking particularly scary!

Next week, it would be wonderful to have some parents volunteer in the craft room. We have lots of costumes and props to make and having parents in the room with children to support them to bring their ideas to life would be very helpful. Think…hot glue, paint, cardboard, and material. If you can spare some time, our craft time is Wednesday 9:30am – 11am (just shoot me a quick email to let me know your coming)

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

Jess and Susan
