Jess and Susan’s Class: Term 1 Week 8

Dear Parents,

Our excursion to The Art Gallry of NSW was just gorgeous and the children seemed very inspired by ways some of the young artists expressed what matters to them in artistic form. With this new inspiration, the children are now full steam ahead creating their artworks for the ‘What Matters’ festival at Currambena. Our class will be starting at 5pm so they can present their travel brochures first, then everyone will be able to view all the artworks across the school and enjoy the regular fun of an old-school Currambena social (don’t forget to bring a plate of food to share).

Summerhill day was another successful day and it’s wonderful to see the children taking ownership over this regular event. We had children offer a range of activities – Aidan offered chocolate chip baking, Eli offered chocolate milk mixing, Oscar and Ezra offered Dodgball and capture the Flag.

On Friday we celebrated World Down Syndrome day by wearing crazy socks. It was fantastic to hear from Isa, Benji and Ollie to widen our perspectives and be reminded of the importance of inclusion.

On Thursday, we delved deeper into some of the intricacies of cursive writing, completed a reading comprehension task based on some chosen travel destinations, and dedicated time to our PIPs. The group are excited for their PIP presentations, which will be presented a little differently this term.

We will be holding a travel convention in the classroom on Friday March 27 from 5pm, followed by the What Matters Festival at 5:30pm. Hopefully everyone can make it.
