Jess and Susan Week 6 Term 4

Dear Parents,

Our week has been consumed with concert preparations! The children have been running lines, blocking and re-blocking their scenes, finalising props and tweaking the details of their performance so they are feeling absolutely confident. I’m already super proud of everything the children have achieved with this group devised piece that has been written and developed entirely by them. There have been so many learning opportunities- in literacy of course but also in social development –  cooperation, inclusion and of course reliability as a team member. I can’t wait for the show and hope that you love it!

We also looked at changing the modality of a sentence to make our writing more or less powerful. Most children understood this, but we’ll probably refresh again when things are a little quieter next week as there was some confusion around changing meaning and modality.

Our swimming session was hampered by a carnival this week, so we made do in the leisure pool. We did some lengths across the pool and practiced floating before enjoying some free time. Thanks again to Jane for coming with us and sharing her expertise.

PIPs are coming along well, with reminders about credible sources and researching for understanding, not just getting words on slides. We are aiming to present on the Thursday afternoon of Week 9, with details TBC.

Next week we will be making our final preparations for camp so if you have final questions, please flick me through an email and I’ll be sure to get back to you promptly. We will also have an additional class photo on Tuesday as we were unfortunately missing just one child on Thursday. I’m not sure if we’ll ever get the entire group together, but at least this way, we’ll get all the children across two photos.

Kind regards,

Jess
