For the Whole School: Term 3 Week 1
A big welcome back to all of our families. I hope you have all had a peaceful break.
There are lots of wonderful things on the calendar for this term and as usual, we are very open to hearing from the community with suggestions for parent run activities too. We recently received the news that following our inspection from NESA, we are fully compliant and up to date with all of our curriculum and educational programming. Well done to all our teachers.
Thank you to all of the community members who participated in our First Aid Training alongside our staff group. I hope you enjoyed the course and feel much more confident. Our next community training is of course the Conflict Resolution course (see more below).
With great sadness, I must tell you that our incredible Maintenance Coordinator, Linzi, will be leaving us. Her last day will be Thursday 6th of August and she will be moving into a full-time role elsewhere. During Linzi’s time here at Currambena, she has implemented such positive changes to our maintenance processes and the school looks beautifully cared for thanks to her energy and organisational skill. She will be terribly missed, but we all wish her well in her next endeavour. We will soon begin preparations for future maintenance recruitment. Please keep your eye out for more information on this coming soon.
Currambena Playgroup Needs You!!!
Could you spare a Wednesday morning to help our community grow? Playgroup is one of Currambena’s greatest opportunities to welcome local families through our gates and share the warmth, creativity and child-centred philosophy that makes our school so special. For many families, it’s their first experience of Currambena and often the start of a lifelong connection.
We’re looking for friendly volunteers to help make Playgroup a welcoming and enjoyable space. Whether you can lend a hand with set-up, make a cup of tea, read a story, chat with new families or simply offer a warm smile, your support will make a real difference.
- Meet new families.
- Spend time with our youngest Currambena community members.
- Help more children discover the joy of learning through play.

Conflict Resolution Course Postponement
For a number of reasons, we have decided to postpone the Conflict Resolution training day until Term 4. The new date is Saturday, 14 November from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Participants will learn all the strategies for effective communication and conflict resolution that the children learn at school. These strategies are useful for adult communication and also for effectively managing communication with children, negotiating and mediating as necessary.
One past participant said, “This course was invaluable! We learned how to hear children, how to be heard, how to discuss options and how to manage parenting in a democratic way. Wendy and Chris gave us a handbook of strategies and created a safe space for our learning. It was genuinely liberating!”

Meanwhile, later this term, there will be a philosophy evening which will include an introduction to conflict resolution for everyone. Watch for this in the school calendar.
Loneliness Awareness Week
Lane Cove Council is hosting “Hello Lane Cove” on Wednesday, 5 August as part of Loneliness Awareness Week. Currambena has been invited to sing as part of the program that day!
A group of 30 children from all classes has begun practising “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars and is already sounding wonderful. Our performance time is 11:45am in the plaza so come along to cheer for us if you can!
There will be practices over the next two weeks, sometimes before 9:30am so please make sure children are at school as close to 8:30am as possible to facilitate this. It would be great if the children could wear bright colours on the day!
