For the Whole School: Term 2 Week 3
Happy Mothers’ Day to all the mothers and grandmothers in our community. May your day be filled with laughter and relaxation.
What an eventful week Currambena has had! Meg’s group had their first go at serving canteen morning tea, Jess and Sarah’s groups had a wonderful time at their Field of Mars excursion, creating documentaries and learning about local habitats. Speaking of documentaries, did you know it was David Attenborough’s 100th birthday this week too? Happy Birthday David!
Make sure you read separate group Newsletter updates to find out about other aspects of your children’s learning this week. Don’t forget, if you ever want to find out more details about your child specifically, speak to their teacher to arrange a time to chat. If you don’t come into school very often, send an email and arrange something that way.
Our Information Morning on Wednesday was especially for parents whose children are joining the primary school from preschool, either ours or others. It was very well attended and we were so proud of Stevie, Hazel and June who demonstrated some of the Rock and Water activities they have been learning. Thank you, Joanna, for explaining the routines and expectations in her group and to our parent elders, Valentina and Marie who did a great job answering questions.
With the weather heading into the winter months, we are seeing all sorts of temperature changes from hour to hour. With the Crowded House song “Four Seasons in One Day” echoing in my head, I would like to remind everyone to ensure their child/ren come to school with sufficient clothes to cover all possible weather changes i.e. a jacket/coat for the bitterly cold wind, whilst still bringing a hat for the middle of the sunny days too. Please make sure your child’s name is on all clothes… permanent marker on the clothing label is very easy and ensures the item can be returned if lost around the school.
The 57th Annual General Meeting of Currambena Ltd
Currambena Ltd is a not-for-profit company set up in 1969 to run Currambena School, which it has been doing for 57 years! We are required by law to hold an Annual General Meeting which is coming up on 28th May. You will have received an email from Mikee with details, nomination and proxy forms. Please consider nominating for Council (the board of directors for Currambena Ltd) as a parent representative. Feel free to speak to any member of staff or council about this. And please come along to the AGM where you will hear reports about the past year and vote for three parent representatives. It’s a wonderful way to learn more about how Currambena operates.
Current parent representatives on Council are: Jalal Shaik, Isabel Ramirez, Nate Mendelsohn, Pietro Sbisa and Sam Pettigrew. Jalal and Isabel have completed their two year terms and Craig (the sixth parent rep) left at the end of 2025 so three parent representative positions will be filled by the vote at the AGM.
Now that the weather is turning colder and colder, we were hoping to include some warming soups for attendees to enjoy whilst at the AGM. If you would like to help with cooking a batch of soup to serve on the night, please talk to Olivia in the office.
Currambena Clothes Swap POSTPONED – Spanish Swap in Class Still ON!!
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the community clothes swap due to limited volunteers, however, we will try again in time for spring and summer. If anyone would like to be a part of organising the next one please let Olivia know.
The children’s clothes swap in their Spanish groups IS STILL ON this Wednesday 13 May. The children heard all about it at School Meeting on Friday.

Next week we have our usual extras, music on Monday, sport on Tuesday and art/craft Wednesday to Friday.
Sarah’s group will be going to the Library on Monday, don’t forget to bring books back for returning.
