For the Whole School: Term 2 Week 1

Welcome to Term 2 at Currambena!

We hope everyone had a lovely break and was able to take some time to pause and rest. It’s been wonderful to see the children returning, happy to be back and ready for the term ahead.

Over the holidays, teachers were busy with programming, planning and preparing their rooms for the children’s return. Katrina has also been working hard on preparations for the upcoming changes to Preschool Child Safety regulations. We are very happy to welcome Chris back from the long service leave. It’s fantastic to have him with us again. We also warmly welcome a new student (and family) to Joanna’s class.

There have been a number of improvements around the school grounds, including the decking being sanded and stained, the bathroom doors repainted, and work completed on guttering and other maintenance tasks. Thank you to Linzi for facilitating this! A Maintenance Day Sunday afternoon will be held on 3rd May so please watch for the email about this.

Our first School Meeting for the term included some important reminders and also a vote about sharing the stem of bananas, from one of the school’s banana palms, that had ripened in the staff room over the holidays. The children helped decide to cut each small banana into thirds so there was enough for everyone who wanted some!

Community Camp
It was lovely to see many families at the Currambena community camping trip. It was a wonderful weekend, and we were certainly lucky with the beautiful autumn weather. Further you can find some photos of the fun, sun, beach and shenanigans with a beautiful group of kids and their amazing parents. Keep your eye out for another community camp later this year.

Currambena Playgroup
What a gorgeous morning of play and catching up for the first playgroup of the term. Katrina and Lida led the group with lots of fun activities. It was so lovely to see our littlest community members get to know the school and we welcomed some brand new playgroup members from around Lane Cove, too.

I am looking forward to catching up with you all again next time and hope to see the numbers growing. Katrina and the preschool team will be organising Playgroup every second week and I will be managing the weeks in between. I hope to invite some volunteers to help with setup and organising this with me so that we can make this event truly a community collaboration.

Please let me know if you would like to come a little bit earlier (around 9am) to organise the set up with me. I would love some help.
