For the Whole School: Term 1 Week 8
It has been an incredibly full and exciting week across the whole school, with rich opportunities for connection, creativity and celebration.
Our whole primary excursion to the NSW Art Gallery for Art Express was a wonderful experience, giving children the chance to engage with inspiring works and ideas. This sat alongside vibrant Nowruz celebrations, a joyful Summerhill Day and we rounded off the week with plenty of colour and fun for Sock Day on Friday. Thank you to Benji, Ollie and Isa for their presentation for School Meeting about Down Syndrome and to everyone who participated in the Sock Parade!
A big thank you as well to everyone who came along on Sunday to support our maintenance day. Your time and effort make a real difference to our shared spaces and community. A gentle reminder to please log your maintenance hours if you haven’t already.
Welcome to Faith
We are very pleased to welcome Faith as our new classroom teacher, taking over from Amelia for the rest of this year.
Faith is already a familiar face within our community, having worked with us as a classroom assistant over the past few years. She brings a strong understanding of Currambena’s child-centred philosophy, along with a deep respect for children as individuals and learners.
Faith has already built warm, positive relationships with many of the children and families, and we are confident she will provide a sense of continuity and care as she steps into this role.
We look forward to supporting Faith as she transitions into the position and are excited to have her as part of the teaching team in this new capacity.
Council Membership – Looking Ahead to the AGM
As we look ahead to our Annual General Meeting at the end of May, we would like to invite expressions of interest from community members who may be interested in joining Council.
There will be a number of positions becoming available, and we warmly encourage anyone with an interest in the governance and ongoing stewardship of Currambena to consider being involved.
If you would like to learn more, please speak with a current Council member or a member of staff. We will be very happy to have a conversation with you. Nominations must be received at least one week before the AGM which is planned for 28th May.
Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) – Volunteers Wanted
We are seeking volunteers from our community who are interested in joining a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) working group.
A RAP in schools is a formal and actionable commitment to fostering reconciliation. It focuses on building relationships, respect and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while embedding First Nations perspectives, histories and cultures into our curriculum, community engagement and daily environment.
This is an important and meaningful piece of work for our school, and we would love to have a group of engaged community members help shape and guide this process.

End of Term Social and “What Matters” Festival IS ALMOST HERE!!!
Currambena Social – Friday 27th March | 5.30–7.30pm
Our first Currambena Social for the year is coming up and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic way to kick off the year together.
Alongside the usual chance to connect with other families, teachers and children, this social event will also feature an exhibition of learning connected to our whole-school integrated unit, “What Matters.”
Classes have been exploring this theme in many different ways, and the evening will give the community a chance to see and experience some of the children’s ideas and projects. There have already been whispers of fundraising stalls supporting organisations that matter to the children, art installations, displays of learning and more.
It promises to be a lively and meaningful evening, so make sure you save the date so you don’t miss it!

WHAT TO BRING: All families need to bring a plate of finger food to share:
- Sarah’s group brings dessert food.
- Everyone else brings healthy/savoury/dinner finger food please.
Playgroup Wednesday Morning starting Term 2
Playgroup is Back!
Our Currambena Playgroup is back for the year. Please spread the word to friends and anyone who might be interested in learning more about Currambena.
Come along with your little ones for a cuppa and some fun activities for the kids. We’ll be set up inside St Elmo’s and on the basketball court (when the weather is nice).
Time: 9.30–11.00am
