Faith’s Class: Term 3 Week 6
Happy Week 6!
Monday was our Book Week Parade, and the Chatterboxes looked fantastic in their costumes! We enjoyed some wonderful Book Week experiences throughout the week, including an illustrator visit by Asiyeh and an author talk with Sarah Geddes at the Lane Cove Library.
In Maths, we wrapped up our focus on ‘Friends of Ten’. We used Unifix cubes, ten frames and card games to build our understanding of how knowing our number facts to ten can help us develop quick and efficient addition and subtraction strategies. We even extended our learning to numbers up to 20!
In our Currents of Care unit, we began exploring how surveys can be used to collect data. We brainstormed what we wanted to find out and developed questions to help guide our data collection. Together, we created a survey to investigate how people use and care for waterways, including beaches and rivers. We discussed how this information could help us think about ways to better care for the health of our waterways and educate our community. We didn’t just survey ourselves either, Meg’s class and the Axolotls also joined in!
Wednesday was Zumba day! The Chatterboxes learned some of the fundamentals before putting them into practice in a full dance session. We also supported a bake sale run by some of Jess’s class, raising money for people affected by the earthquake in Colombia.
Friday was ‘Wear It Purple Day’, supporting LGBTQIA+ youth. The Chatterboxes put so much effort into wearing purple and joining in with the day’s activities. The Elders in Meg’s class organised a fantastic day, including a bake sale and a lunchtime dance party!
A few notes for next week:
- Monday: School photos and our library visit
- Tuesday: The final day of Jump Rope for Heart, including a whole-school skipping event organised by Meg’s class.
