Faith’s Class: Term 2 Week 8

Happy Week 8!

A short but very busy week as we continue moving toward the end of the term, with plenty of engaging learning across all areas.

In Tennis, we exercised our teamwork skills and played lots of games that relied on listening to our partner and working together towards a common goal. It was fantastic to see the Chatterboxes supporting each other and trying their best throughout each challenge.

In Maths, we concluded our work on whole numbers by creating our own “Place Value Robots.” These creative models were a great way for us to show our understanding of how numbers can be represented in different ways using hundreds, tens and ones. We then began our new unit on Time, exploring how we measure it in everyday life. The Chatterboxes discussed different ways time is recorded and even extended their thinking to how we measure the time it takes for light from the sun to reach Earth. We also explored Roman numerals and noticed how they often appear on clock faces, sparking lots of curiosity and discussion.

In our Bright Lights and Big Sounds unit we continued to build on our understanding of light energy. We explored how different cultures have used light to communicate throughout history and investigated how materials can be classified based on how much light they allow to pass through them.

We also began exploring poetry as a powerful way to express stories and emotions, and students enjoyed experimenting with language that creates feelings and imagery for the reader.

As we move into the final weeks of the term, we will begin wrapping up several of our learning units. We will also be revisiting our Protective Behaviours lessons, focusing on developing clear personal boundaries and recognising them in ourselves and others.
