Amelia’s group week 4 term 4

Hi everyone,

This week we spent a lot of our time working on our class play. The children are also spending a lot of their time in craft designing and constructing their costumes.

In biology this week, we explored a different form of energy that feeds living things: the sun! We looked at how the sun produces energy to all living things, but particularly for plants. We created food chains stemming from the sun, to plants, to herbivores, to omnivores and carnivores, to predators and apex predators. Our food (or energy) chains are hung up in the classroom, come in and have a look!

A few of the children in the group have been quite tired recently, as is the norm for term 4. We are having a lot of conversations about managing conflicts when we are already feeling tired or overwhelmed, and how it can be more difficult to regulate our big emotions. As a group, we are having a lot of breaks, encouraging drinking water consistently, and making sure we have a full and well-nourished body to take on the day. If your child seems more tired or emotional at the moment, that is common during this time of year! Check in with them and see if extra downtime is needed, just like I am doing in the classroom.
