Amelia’s group week 3 term 4
Hi everyone,
I hope you have all had a nice week and a fun halloween night if you celebrate!
This week we finalised our class play characters and our general script outline, and began rehearsing. The children are all very enthusiastic about the play and are having a lot of fun with it so far!
In Biology, this week we delved into one of the energy sources of living things: food. We spoke about omnivores, herbivores and carnivores, and learn to identify them by their teeth! We spoke about the need for canines to rip and tear meat, and molars for grinding and breaking up our food. We got a bit off track and had a mini lesson on evolution (try explaining that to a group of 6-8 year olds!) and had a few crises over the thought of ‘was I born a monkey?’. The children looked at some 3D skull models from online museums to categorise the diets of a range of animals, and the children had an absolute blast being biologists for a little while! We will continue looking at energy sources next week, but this time, the sun.
Work in the craftroom is very busy in term 4 when all of the classes are working hard on making their costumes and props for the school concert. If you are available, please come in and support our class in making their costumes over the next 3 weeks. You do not need to have any sewing skills (but it’s’ always a plus!) and there are plenty of jobs you can help with, such as cutting out patterns of fabric or hot glueing accessories to masks. The dates Chris would love some support are Wednesday the 5th, the 12th and the 19th of November. The sessions are from 1.30pm to 3.00pm. Please let me know if you would like to support! It can even count towards your maintenance hours.
