Amelia’s Group Week 2 Term 4
Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I was away sick on Monday but we had Susan covering the group. We had our first session of drama with Bec, and from all reports it was a great lesson. Bec will be helping us with our class play and giving some pointers to the kids with vocal and facial expression, blocking, and miming. We started reading and learning our lines from the first draft script on Tuesday and the children are already incredibly enthusiastic about the story we are seeking to create.
On Tuesday we had our first session to the pool for term 4 and the children had a fantastic time. Jess and I reminisced on our first term of swimming at the beginning of the year and how big, independent, and grown up all the children looked whilst splashing around in the pool.
On Thursday, we had Anne, Hunter’s mum, come in and teach us about eyes. Anne brought in some cow eyes and (most) of the children had a go at dissecting them. There was a lot of shocked gasps, ‘ewwwws’, and ‘what is that?!’ thrown around, but overall the children got right into it and had a blast cutting apart the eyes and being scientists. We had a closer look at the pupils, iris, and lens of lens of the eyes and even used the lens to magnify words on a piece of paper. The children reflected on how complex such a small part of our body is, and the different roles each part plays in taking in the world around us.
Have a lovely weekend!
