Amelia’s Class: Term 1 Week 9

Hi everyone,

What a successful and wonderful week!

Most of the week was spent preparing for the ‘What Matters?’ Festival held on Friday. Our elders also presented their first PIP of 2026!

Our elders worked in small groups of 2-3 children, and created a presentation based on a topic that matters to them. Charlotte and Madu researched and spoke about cats, Gerard, Justin and Jude chose snakes, and Leonardo and Savannah explored some pets in their own lives. Thank you for everyone that joined us to watch these presentations, I know it is always very special for the children to show off their hard work over the term, particularly when it is one of their first completed PIPs!

A huge thank you as well to everyone who joined us for the festival on Friday! I couldn’t have been more pleased with the turn out and felt as though it was a wonderful success for everyone, but particularly for the children!

Our group was incredibly involved with setting up our displays during the day and playing an active part in choosing the layout, signage and movement in the space. I know that they all felt very proud of what they had achieved over the term, and I wish I could have shown you every moment of in-depth learning, discussion and enthusiasm that we enjoyed together over the term, as the exhibition could only show so much! The group has been so actively involved in this entire process and their learning on ‘What Matters?’, which has made me so excited to see what Faith and the group achieve in their next studies over the course of the year. What a wonderful evening it was to spend with you all!

Next week, our group will be going to the Lane Cove Library on Monday, so please pack all library books! Also, the group voted that they would like to enjoy their final Tuesday of the term at the swimming pool as well. I have sent out an email to remind this and ask for some volunteers for the trip as well. We will be enjoying some ice blocks at Pottery Green afterwards too!
