Amelia’s Class: Term 1 Week 6

Hi everyone,

We have had a number of wonderful learning experiences this week. Following on from our investigation into advertising last week, the children were tasked with creating their own posters advertising a topic that matters to them. The children chose a topic, some of which included plastic pollution, animal protection, and sun safety, then created a commanding ‘catchphrase’ to promote a message and draw in their audience. They then designed the imagery and pictures that would further present their ideas.

I was so incredibly impressed with the amount of enthusiasm, pride, and careful thought that all of the children approached this task with. We will be presenting these amazing posters during our ‘What Matters?’ festival in Week 9.

We also learnt more about 2 Dimensional shapes this week and focused on the terms polygons, quadrilaterals, sides, parallel and vertex or vertices. We made some of our own quadrilaterals out of straws and pipe cleaners, as well as some beautiful flowers made with 2D shapes. Come in and have a look!

Next week, we will be going to the Lane Cove Library as well as going swimming on Tuesday. Again, we only have one volunteer so if you are free and have a valid WWCC,
