Amelia’s Class: Term 1 Week 10

Hi everyone,

…and that’s a wrap! What a beautiful, eventful, and joyful first term of 2026 we have had.

It has been a pleasure to join along on the learning journey of ‘The Cheepy Birds’ and experience so many novel parts of their growth as young people.

Some of my favourite parts of the term included but were not limited to:

  • Welcoming my elders back to the group for another wonderful term together!
  • Welcoming my juniors to the group and having so much quality time to get to know them and their wonderful personalities.
  • Welcoming Joanna to our community and seeing her absolutely soar in her role with the youngest group in the primary school!
  • Welcoming Kym back as our music teacher and hearing ongoing positive feedback from the children on their sessions.
  • Enjoying some whole school celebrations and events such as the Spanish Carnavale Day organised by Carolina, the whole school excursion to the Art Expo, and Crazy Sock Day organised by Benji in our class and his mum Isa to celebrate Down Syndrome and uniqueness.
  • The ‘What Matters’ unit of work itself and the fabulous enthusiasm and in-depth learning our class engaged with.
  • The ‘What Matters’ Festival and its hugely successful community engagement! It was also a treat to see how involved all of the children were, and their pride in seeing their hard work come to life and be celebrated.
  • Getting to know my wonderful parent group and connecting with you all as people (not just parents!) more deeply.

I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful term to send me off on my overseas adventure! I want to say a huge and grateful thank you to everyone in the community for my lovely farewells on my last day this term. It has been such a special opportunity for me to really feel grateful and reflective, and to celebrate all of my experiences in the Currambena community. I feel equal parts anticipation and grief for this new phase of my life! I will miss you all dearly (particularly the amazing children!) but hope to return with a refreshed and eager energy!
