Authors:
- write posts as draft (ie just save, do not publish) by Wednesday mid-morning. When you are finished with it, save it as “pending review”. This applies to the photo page too. IE do not publish before Wednesday. If you do so, it will be sent to any “subscribers” as an isolated post on that day, not with the rest of the newsletter.
Photographers and artists:
- artwork and submissions in the folder and pass photo’s to editor before Wednesday preferably
Editors:
- check all drafts are in – chase authors, repeat till done
- prepare cover photo and any drawings – see detailed procedure.
- proofread all contributions via the “manage posts” page. Those that have been completed by their authors should have a status of ‘pending review’.
- Note any dates to add to calendar
- Check that categories are correct
- Edit publish dates if you wish to change the order of appearance, then Publish!
- Update events calendar
- Check if there are any dates to add (ask Juliana) and gather the dates noted from the posts.
- Goto calendar.google.com and login as info@currambena.nsw.edu.au, password the 5 letter usual one, repeated. Anna-marie and Juliana also have access on there own names if there are problems
- Goto “Create event and fill in details (title, date, time, description) checking that date es[ecially are correct. SAVE.
- Goto Currambena website events, refresh if necessary, check that dates are displayed.
- If you want to highlight an upcoming event, write a short post about it with a category of ‘event’ if no other category is suitable.
- Before printing the final newsletter, always do a print preview. Go to the newsletter archive http://currambena.nsw.edu.au/newsletters-archive/ and select the latest week. Note the print preview is important – You may need to change that computer’s print settings, particularly remove the headers and footer and adjust the print margins (possible 0) if necessary. A margin of 10 at the top and 0 everywhere else usually works.
- Print Preview the dates, then print
- Go to newsletter archive and bring up the weeks articles.
- Print Preview, then print
- Ensure any “feature” posts stay on the website front page. Edit the post and update the time stamp to be the latest post. For example: Information morning reminders should stay top of the most recent news list. Check that the date referred to in the post is the next info morning date and update if necessary. Save and refresh the front page to check your edit.
- Printing trouble shooting:
- Image too dark – lighten with the with printer, or with image editing program, then re-upload (note can sometimes lighten just a selected area eg: faces)
- image not lined up with the headers – image may have a white border, or is smaller than 600px wide. either leave as is for this week or resize photo from original
- text too narrow, not too wide – check your computers print page setup – the page margins may be wrong for this kind of print
