With Thanks
Walking back into Currambena after more than 20 years, Still gave me a sense of belonging and freedom without any fears. Into Wendy's room I strolled, ready to begin my prac, Into the warmth and excitement that Currambena brought back. Every second Monday Lane Cove Library is the port of call, Once there the world of words we are able to explore, With computer game magazines devoured for their reviews, Through to the discovery of the young adult fiction section to be viewed. Tuesday afternoon is oval time, Class jobs aim to be completed early for more time on the grass, Although some try to sneak along their cards but it doesn't come to pass. Rugby is played, barefoot and all, With the other half of the field for the soccer ball. Wednesday's class meeting allows a voice for all, Viewing of TTN was the main call. Valid issues are raised in a most mature way, Nurturing skills that are there to stay. Thursday is looked forward to by all of the class, As before morning tea playing with buddies will come to pass. The care and the friendship experienced by all that are there Demonstrates the enormous benefits and experiences that they share. Then comes craft, being different than any other school, As the students have free reign over all of the tools (With Chris' permission of course) Being aware of the dangers and the safety needed, Students explore their creativity and all succeeded. Friday brings along another day of freedom and fun, Into Fran's room where the school meeting is run. Different issues are raised that are important that day, With a democratic vote having the final say. Choices invites the whole school for more interaction, Teachers offering different options to ensure everybody's satisfaction. Free Choice is next with War Hammer top of the list, The seriousness and knowledge it brings cannot be missed. With communication, imagination and cooperation developed by all, This signals the end of the day and end of the week for all! And this is my cue to say goodbye, BUT not before I thank each and every one of the 22 beautiful individuals that make up Wendy's class, who then form the community that is Currambena! So THANK YOU xxx, xxx, xxx for including me and especially to Wendy for allowing me to join your wonderful class!
