Structure
Currambena Limited is a registered non-profit making company with its own Memorandum and Articles of Association designed to maintain its special character.
The school is governed by a Council consisting of nine elected representatives – six parents and three teachers. Council can co-opt one or two additional members if necessary. The Council is responsible for general management, activities, property, funds, employment and policies of the school. Parent members are elected for a two-year term at the annual general meeting (AGM) usually held in May. Teacher representatives serve on Council for a one-year period and the Preschool Director is a permanent member. Following the AGM members of Council elect a Chair as well as a Treasurer, Secretary and Deputy Chair. Members of Council usually have responsibility for a specific area such as maintenance, fund raising, marketing etc.
All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend Council meetings, which are held approximately every four weeks. Parents visiting Council meetings can participate in discussions but only members may vote. Minutes of the Council meetings are posted on the noticeboard outside the Staff Room and Council matters are regularly reported in the newsletter. A notice of meeting and the agenda is posted on the school gate prior to each meeting. Background papers are available in a folder in the staff room.
A number of sub-committees report to Council and make recommendations on policy/procedures and activities related to various areas. Parents are encouraged to become involved in these committees.
Administrative Staff
Currambena has two part time coordinators (job share). They, together with the Council and teachers, are responsible for the day-to-day running of the school. There is no Principal.
Our part time coordinators provide a communications link between teachers, Council and parents. The coordinator role is to be responsible for educational administration, public relations, maintenance and staff support, together with the day-to-day administrative functions of the school, such as fee collection, correspondence, enquiries, financial management and publication of our weekly newsletter. Parents are encouraged to bring ideas to the coordinators especially when these are matters likely to affect the whole school. Issues relating to individual children or classroom practice should be directed to the class teacher first and then to one of the coordinators if necessary.

Note there is possibility to arrange earlier dropoff if necessary.

Holidays
Currambena offers 40 school weeks each year with every first Monday of the new term being a coordinating day for teachers only. Holiday care may be provided by Currambena After School Care Program (CASP) on these days. Please enquire at the office if you need this service.
Currambena holidays vary slightly from other private and State school holidays (generally there is one extra week per year). The dates for each year are published in the newsletter.
See the calendar on the News page for this years’ term dates.
Currambena After School Care Program (CASP)
A CASP management committee oversees the running of the program including administrative procedures, budget matters, fees, and staffing. The staff includes a coordinator and several assistants. The hours are 3pm-6.30pm and afternoon tea is provided.
Children can be placed in CASP on a permanent or casual basis dependent on availability. Permanent places are paid for at the beginning of the term and are a little cheaper than casual places.
Currently, CASP has a limit of 25 children per day and access is on a first in basis. Casual bookings can be made dependent on availability.
If you wish to use CASP, complete an enrolment form and a medical form (available from the school office) and hand it in at the office.
