Minutes of School Meeting Friday 3rd July, 2009

Chairpeople: Alex and Olivia

1. Welcome to Codey, Michelle and Michael who have joined Currambena.

2. Volleyball by Lillie. A reminder to look after our new volleyballs and always put them away after you use them.

3. Bird trap by Alex.  A reminder to look after living things and not make bird traps.

4. Water tank by Wendy. There has been some confusion about whether or not it is OK to climb on top of the water tank. After some discussion,we agreed that no-one will climb on top of it.

5. Toilets by Wendy. Please do not put things like bits of wood and craft things in toilets !

6. Shelf by Sam. Sam suggested that the display shelf for Currambena art work needs to be supported or it will keep getting blown over as it was this morning. Chris R. offered to work with Sam to fix this.

7. Disc golf by Gabriel. Gabriel suggested that the school buy equipment for a game called “disc golf”. Gabriel will investigate what is needed and bring more information to the next meeting.

8. Projector by Jo. The projector is set up in the purple room and Jo asked that everyone keeps it safe by leaving it alone and asking if they want to use it.

9. Chickens by Sue. If anyone can take the chickens home this weekend please see Sue. If the chickens are here on Sunday for the Reunion, please watch out for them and help keep them safe.

10. Lost property by Chris. ALL THE LOST PROPERTY WILL GO TO ST VINNIES AT THE END OF TERM. PLEASE COLLECT YOUR BELONGINGS ASAP FROM UNDER THE BLUE UMBRELLA.

11. Stall by Chris. Next Tuesday is the stall to raise money for the school in Nepal that Currambena supports. Please bring money!

12. Cubby by Kiran. Kiran has made a cubby in the corner of the sandpit and asked if he could keep it. The meeting voted that he can.

13. Craft on Fridays. Chris R. is now here all day on Friday so the craft room is available to anyone who wants to work there. There was some discussion about how to manage cleaning up and we agreed that each person needs to check what needs cleaning with Chris before leaving the room.

14. Croquet by Darcy. Darcy asked about the croquet set we used to have and he was told that some of it has been lost or broken and Fran has one of the mallets.

Minutes of School Meeting Friday 12th June

Chairpeople: Jody and Holly

1. Guitar by Sam and Shannon. A guitar was broken by accident yesterday in our room and we don’t know how it happened. If anyone knows anything about it could they please let us know. Darcy then said that the guitar was his family’s and Wendy said how sorry she was that it got broken in her room.

2. Lost property by Chris. Chris is going to put all the LOST PROPERTY out under the blue umbrella for a few days and then anything not claimed will be taken to St Vinnies.

3. Lego by Angus. Angus expressed concern about the expensive Lego items that people have been bringing to school and the meeting reminded everyone about the agreement not to bring things that cost that much to school.

4. Building by Jo. Jo told everyone that Currambena has just received a grant of money to build the new building we have been planning. Everyone clapped!!

5. Platforms by Jo. Jo spoke about the fact that we will be losing some of the playground space while the new building is constructed and she had an idea that we could build some platforms near the Spiderweb that could provide space to play underneath and on top. She asked for a meeting with anyone interested in helping with this at 2pm this afternoon.

6. Reunion and singing by Wendy. Currambena has its 40th anniversary this year and there will be a big reunion BBQ on Sunday 5th July. The teachers have re-written the words for “I’m a Believer” and we would like to teach everyone this and have it as part of the entertainment on the day. We all sang the song and it sounded great… words elsewhere in this newsletter!

7. Friday by Fran. The meeting agreed to have another trial of the more flexible Friday timetable before voting about it.

Minutes of School Meeting Friday 27th March 2009

Chairpeople: Lillie and Sam

1. Playgroup equipment by Robyn. Robyn spoke about the equipment which has been collected especially for the playgroup which meets each Friday morning. It is intended for use by small children only and could be unsafe for bigger children. The meeting agreed that the equipment is only for playgroup children. Robyn was asked to let the playgroup parents know that another school agreement is that no things with wheels are allowed to go down ramps.

2. Electronic Toys by Phoebe and Shannon. After some general discussion, the meeting voted to allow electronic toys again.

3. Agreements by Sam. Sam reminded us all about some of the agreements made in the past such as: only ride scooters on the basketball court before and after school, no things with wheels go down ramps, don’t help or put smaller children up onto equipment.

4. Sharing/Giving out things by Rachel. Rachel reminded everyone to be fair if they have things to share with their friends or others.

5. Tidy up by Rachel and Shannon. This was a suggestion to look after your area (ie pick up rubbish) whenever you see it, not just at the end of the day.

6. Ten pieces of rubbish by Sam. Sam reminded us all to pick up at least ten pieces of rubbish after School Meeting.

7. Bubblers by Angus. Angus reminded everyone not to put stuff in the bubblers and not to put your mouth over them when you are drinking.

8. CD by Tilly and Anusha. A reminder to look after CDs so they don’t get scratched.

9. Umbrella by Leo. Leo showed us an umbrella which has been wrecked and reminded us to look after things.

10. Collage by Annabelle, Tilly and Chloe.  A beautiful collage was shown to the whole group.

13. Spare Room by Sue. We need to have some agreements about how to use the spare room. Each group will discuss the issue at class meetings and bring their ideas to the next School Meeting.

14. Writing on the walls by Sue. This was a message from Julianna please NOT to write on the walls of our buildings because they look awful and it’s very hard to get off.

Minutes of School Meeting Friday 17th October, 2008.

Chairpeople: Carragh and Lucie

1. MS Readathon by Wendy. Wendy received a phone call from the organisers of the MS Readathon who are hoping that anyone who still has money they have raised will send it in quickly.

2. 40 Hour Famine by Carragh. Our total raised in the 40 Hour Famine was $1500. Congratulations to everyone who helped to raise this fantastic amount and thanks to all the sponsors.

3. Concert by Fran. Fran asked everyone whether they would like her to continue investigating the idea of holding next year’s school concert at Tambourine Bay using the platform there for a stage. the meeting voted yes.

4. Clean-up by Wendy. Since we were not here on Thursday afternoon to do Sustaining Currambena, please could everyone do a special clean up around the school after this meeting.

5. Welcome back by Lucie. Welcome back to Term 4 and remember it’s the last term for the year so make the most of it!

Minutes of School Meeting 15.8.08

Chairpeople: Allend and Zac

1. Water conservation by Lilly. One day this week, someone left a tap running in the hand basin in one of the toilets. Please remember to turn off taps and save water.

2. Fire danger by Wendy. Wendy showed the remains of a synthetic jacket which had been burned and basically melted. She pointed out how dangerous it would have been if someone had been wearing it at the time. Make sure you keep away from fire!

3. 40 Hour Famine by Tim and Olivia. The Famine starts today and please be kind to people who are going without something eg furniture, food, talking, etc.

4. Clean-up by Wendy. Please let’s do a big clean-up after this meeting because there is a lot of rubbish and sport equipment being left out again.

5. Shoes by Alex. Alex had lost the same left foot skate shoe that he lost last term. (It has since been found!)

6. Leather shoes by Isabelle. Isabelle has lost some brown leather shoes and if anyone knows where they are, please tell her after the meeting.

7.Lost helicopter propeller by Jacob. One of the propellers is lost so please return it if you see it.

8. Good-bye Danielle by Olivia. Olivia’s class said good-bye to Danielle who has been their student teacher. We all wish her well and she said she has loved being at Currambena.

9. Choices: Inside and outside games, yoga, drama games, cooking, craft, singing.

SOCK DRIVE!!!

Dear Currambena Community

The sock drive orders are due back this Friday 15th August 2008. Please put your orders for LOTS of warm socks, gloves, thermal underwear and lots of other items into the box on the preschool desk. Currambena earns money for each pair of socks that you buy. Payment is by credit card, cash, cheque made payable to Currambena School or direct debit via the internet to Currambena School. Please mark direct debit payments with your name and the word”socks”.

Minutes of School Meeting 30.5.08

Chaired by Lilly and Isla.

1. Cleaning up by Wendy.  Please can everyone do a better job of picking up rubbish and packing away the sport equipment at the end of the day.

2. Upstairs space by Wendy, Alex and Allend. the Library, Music Room and Seniors’ Room are all to be treated with great care. No food or drink should be taken up there. They are for quiet appropriate activities only.

3. Shoes by Alex. Alex has lost one white skate shoe and he needs it back. If you have seen it please tell him.

4. Plaza performance by Wendy. Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Reconciliation performance on Thursday. We all sang and spoke really well and we received some excellent feedback from the organisers. (We gave ourselves a cheer!)

5. Preschool equipment by Sue. Please do not move or use the Preschool play equipment if you are not in preschool.

6. Thank you by Chris.

7. Bubble gum by Olivia. Bubble gum has been detected at school… please remember this is not OK.

8. Wagon by Lao. Lao showed us the plastic wagon which is now broken and he asked people to look after things better in future.

9. Skipping rope by Anna. Please return the ropes after you use them.

10. Playgroup by Fran. On Fridays when Currambena playgroup is here we need to be more careful in the playground because of the very young children and babies.

11. Gardens by Wendy. The new vegie garden needs to be left undisturbed and will have new layers added to it when it is ready. Please take care of it!

Minutes of School Meeting 4th April, 2008.

Chaired by Zac and Holly.

 1. PE for next term by Olivia. Olivia asked everyone what sports we want to have next term when we finish swimming. Suggestions included oval, running, gymnastics and basketball.

2. Front Gate by Olivia. A reminder not to swing on the front gate because it damages the springs.

3. Walkie-Talkie by little Olivia. Olivia has lost a Walkie-Talkie set at school. If you know anything about it please speak to her straight away.

4. Outside area by Rachel. Please make sure you clean up your rubbish from the area outside Olivia’s room.

5. Moving furniture by Sue. Please let the new outside furniture stay where it is.

6. Peeing on the toilet seat by Sue. A reminder to be very careful when you use the toilets.

7. Winners of guessing competition by Alex, Allend and Tim. Tim, Allend and Alex thanked everyone who spent money at the stall yesterday. We raised $176 for our sponsor child in Uganda. The winners of the guessing competition were

8. Rubbish by Wendy. Lots of cardboard was left in the tanbark yesterday. PLEASE remember to pick up your rubbish!!

Minutes of School Meeting 14th March, 2008.

Chaired by Carragh and Lucie.

1. Shoes by Emma, Holly and Carragh. Several people have had shoes go missing from the veranda outside Wendy’s room. Please leave other people’s things where you find them.

2. Performances at the Social by Wendy. Wendy asked how many piano players are coming to the social and wish to perform. There were seven.

3. Chickens by Fran. Fran read out a letter from Eduardo who has been doing all the work of looking after the chickens. He expressed strong concerns about how a couple of children have been treating the chickens and suggested that the chickens might be safer living somewhere else if we don’t look after them properly here. The meeting was very upset about this problem and one of the children involved apologised deeply and sincerely to everyone. Sue has offered to take over the job of caring for the chickens on a daily basis and the meeting discussed the problem and decided we would like to keep the chickens and  look after them properly from now on.

4. List by Darcy. Darcy read out a list of things he has lost at school and asked if anyone finds any of them to please bring them to him.

5. Toilets by Kiran. A reminder to aim carefully and please flush the toilet.

6. Cubbies by Sam. The meeting voted that Sam and some other kids can keep the cubby they are making near the top sandpit.

7. Tribe by Gabriel. Gabriel suggested a game he would like to set up called Tribe where there are areas and tribes and trading and growing crops. Everyone interested can meet with Gabriel after School Meeting.

8. Lunch by Olivia. A reminder to make sure you put your lid back on your lunchbox so the birds don’t come and help themselves!

REMEMBER to pick up rubbish in the playground and return any School Library books.

School Meeting Minutes Term 1 Week 5

MINUTES OF SCHOOL MEETINGFriday, 22nd February, 2008.

1. Cubby by Tim.
Tim asked if he could keep the cubby he and some friends are building up near the top sandpit. The meeting agreed that he could so long as it doesn’t damage any trees.

2. Everything Day by Shannon and Hannah.
Olivia’s group has thought of the idea of having an “Everything Day” which would include Pyjama Day, Character Day and Summer Hill Day. The meeting agreed with this and decided to hold it next Wednesday.

3. Tennis racquet’s by Samantha.
Pleas return sport equipment after you use it.

4. Spare Room by Olivia.
Please always respect the space and leave it tidy and share it effectively.

5. Chickens by Helen.
Please look after the chickens and treat them well.
