Julianna Term 2 Week 6

Hello Everyone,

How exciting we have two social events in two weeks!
Tomorrow is the warm up night at our AGM with soup and bread and next week is our major Term Two social with extraordinary Aussie food, music and banter to say good-bye to Luuk and Willem. So let’s give them a Currambena Ozzie night to never forget!!!

CURRAMBENA AGM,
HOT SOUP AND BREAD NIGHT!

Tomorrow night Thursday 4th June.
We are starting the evening at 5.00pm and are asking each family to bring food to share like soup and rolls
So if you want it hot, bring your pot and we can have it sitting on the BBQ plate to keep warm
If you can help to set-up a bit before  5pm that would be much appreciated.
CURRAMBENA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will start then at 6.00PM

MIDTERM SOCIAL TO FAREWELL our Dutch boys
Next Friday 12th June
So here is the chance to bring along that favourite family dish to share.

GRANTS
We have applied for two grants since early May. The first one I am sure you are all aware of which is to build a new classroom and the second was for $75,000 which is part of the National School Pride Program. Last week we received excellent news that we have been successful in this second grant and will know about the first grant in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile our Build team is working around the clock to get all the necessary plans and reports together to submit the DA to Lane Cove Council.
Over the July school holidays we will take the opportunity using a portion of the $75000 grant to upgrade the top toilets and incorporate a store room.

With love,
Julianna

Julianna Term 2 Week 1

Hello Everyone,

All of us who went to the NZ conference had a fabulous time and are all firing with new ideas and totally re-energized for another exciting term at Currambena.
Being part of and sharing the energy and passion of a wide range of people truly triggers the brain. We discussed and debated, listened, ate sumptuously, learned new skills, took photos, got lost in a little city!!!, made new contacts, explored two other great schools and in keeping to our Currambena philosophy we played every day.

Thank-you to the maintenance team who had the school looking well loved and attended to for school starting. A special thanks to Amba for being chief organizer.

You may notice the arborist people were in during the break and most of our trees have had a gentle make-over.

With love,
Julianna

This Friday 3rd April weather permitting is our Currambena evening social. This is our end of term gathering of all our community, kids, parents, teachers and extended family starting around 5.30pm. We are asking each family to bring food to share, enough for your family and a little extra. Most people bring a main and a salad and even some bring a dessert as well.    There will be a bar selling beer and wine.                                                        If the weather looks unsocial we will put a cancellation note on the gate on Friday morning.

Maintenance and fees
This week is the deadline for getting those maintenance hours written in the book and making final payments for outstanding fee plans.
Because I am off to NZ to a Conference I am doing all the invoicing before term finishes.

Julianna Term 1 Week 8

Hello Everyone,

Our love and thoughts go out to Steve Gazzini and Michelle McGrath who are both facing some heavy challenges in their lives at this time.

A big thank-you to Payman for organizing and running a great café last Friday. Also thank-you to all the wonderful bakers and to all those people who came in for a chat and a cuppa.

Thank-you again to Payman for blitzing the CASP kitchen. The fridge was practically skipping it had had such a load taken off it!!!

If you are noticing lots of meetings with people around the school it will more than likely be in regards to the building plans. Please see the page from our “BuildTeam”

REMINDER
Please keep Friday 3rd April open in your diaries for our Currambena evening social.

With love,
Julianna

Julianna Term 1 Week 7

Hello Everybody

The “How to talk so kids will listen” evening went very well with an attendance of about 35 people. Thank-you to all those who helped organize the evening with design & printing of the fliers, enveloping, addressing and posting of the fliers, setting up for the evening and to our two presenters Fran and Chris. Thank-you Chris for dragging yourself from the sick bed.

To all you who attended if you are hungry for more information or have many questions put your name down for the Conflict Resolution course.

The flier is further over in the newsletter.

Thank-you to Marcus and Tony who have been working on the wiring and set-up of the computers in the craft room and the kindergarten room.

Thank-you to Eduardo who quietly and very efficiently works around the school fixing and repairing. If you haven’t already noticed he has put in a new timber sleeper around the garden  outside the front of the CASP windows.

Reminder

We have our Currambena Café this Friday starting at 2.30pm. We would love if you could provide a plate to sell with the tea and coffee.

With love,

Julianna
