Thank-you to all our parents for the improvement with signing in and out, even ringing immediately to tell us if you have forgotten is a great relief.  Of course we would love everyone to keep working on this and a forgotten signature to be a rarity.

A special thanks to Fran and to Jo for presenting the evening.

Hello Currambena!

This is a very special reminder to our parents about signing in and out. I am referring mainly to Preschool and to Casp. When the sign sheethas not been signed this causes huge stress for our staff. For example if you arrive, pick-up a child and promptly leave and five minutes later a staff member checks for this child, ten minutes is spent looking for the child then alarm sets in. Parents are rung which sometimes can take up to an hour tracking parents and they then tracking the person who they organised to collect the child….. As you can imagine all the staff are involved at this stage and quite often this includes myself and that really sick feeling I get in my stomach is very unpleasant… need I say any more.

Sue has a little more to say in the Preschool page with their concerns and some creative thought for resolution.

THANK-YOU  - To the lovely fairy who so neatly folded our beautiful fabric bunting.

Julianna Term 3 Week 1

Good morning Currambena!

Well yet again the school was looking very beautiful when we all skipped through the gate on Monday. Thank-you to all those industrious people who were here on Sunday sweeping, cleaning and generally doing the big tidy!

It seemed from the chatter in the playground that people have had a very mixed break, some sick the whole two weeks, others enjoying just being at home and others tripping around the Whitsundays.

You will be pleased to note that Luuk and Willem finally boarded their plane at a ridiculously early hour on Monday morning 19th– very reluctantly I might add. They are now back in Holland with mixed ideas of what they want to do next though getting work seems to be a definite priority. They also send greetings to every one.

NEEDED…

There is a major project of emptying the spare classroom this term. If a parent was interested this would go towards their maintenance hours. It will involve liaising with the teachers and sorting through what is in the room. They will need to work out what can be thrown out, what needs to be stored and how much storage we will need to find at the school or off-site.

If you think this would interest you please chat to Julianna or Jesse Kimber.

Julianna

Julianna Term 2 Week 11

Hello Everyone,

Currambena celebrating 40 years of inspired education!

What a fantastic day  on Sunday and so many Currambena faces to catch up with. The feeling was that of just one  huge extended family.

Thank-you, thank-you to all those who helped with the planning, organising, compiling of history, sorting photos, cutting DVDs, the big clean and tidy on Saturday, for setting up on the day, for the copious amounts of gorgeous food, the management and running of the day and not to be forgotten the BIG clean-up at the end of the day!

Thank-you so much to all our speakers, it was a delight to listen to the rich tapestry of Currambena history.

Most important I would like to offer a very special thanks to our lovely Karen Latty who was the driving passion behind the whole event.

It was truly a fabulous, fabulous day.

Another huge THANK-YOU goes to Lynn Higgs for all the hours and hours of work that she put in to pull the eight day Laura trip together.

Wendy was sure she had come to camp heaven when she arrived at Laura and all the tents were up complete with beds and sleeping bags! Then it continued with all food, drinks and meals supplied!

Many thanks Lyn.

LOST PROPERTY

Please look through all the apparel that is being displayed on the front seat of the school, as come Friday it will all be packed up and taken to St Vinnies.

So last chance to find that missing shoe, jumper, sock etc.

Julianna Term 2 Week 10

Hello Everyone,

Remember this Sunday is our 40th Reunion which is going to be a really fun day listening to 1969 music, catching up with past pupils and old friends, swapping stories and sharing food at the community lunch. Which reminds me, don’t forget to bring that favourite family dish.

Please read the teachers pages to get all the stories from Laura. The feedback in the office is that they had a fantastic time.

We also have good news from our Build Team, the DA to Lane Cove Council was submitted yesterday. If you have not noticed the building plans for the new classroom are on the pin board outside Wendy’s classroom.

Remember next week is the last week of school so…..

Julianna Term 2 Week 9

Hello Everyone,

This week has been so quiet! Yesterday all the primary kids took off to Taronga zoo and so we only had the Preschoolers. It actually felt a little eerie in the school, even the chickens were wondering around looking rather perplexed, no doubt they were missing their favourite lunches!!!!

Reports have come in about the Laura trip and all is well and the festival sounds like it was an extraordinary experience. Next week we will have the full story in the newsletter.

Today I have been totally engrossed in the meeting with the Buildteam and everything is so close to submitting our building plans to Lane Cove Council for the DA Wow!
Our Buildteam is continuing to do brilliant work. If you see Jessica, Rachel, Danni, Myung Jin or Elaine in the play ground a cheer of encouragement would be great as this is an iron woman race run, swim and peddle!

Julianna

Julianna Term 2 Week 8

Hello Everyone,

Last Friday night we had a fabulous social!
The food as usual was scrumptious, Steve got a roaring fire going in a large brazier on the top deck and our two Dutch boys entertained everyone with two very funny performances.
This is Willem and Luuk’s last week at Currambena. They will leave a big hole in the school with their going and they will be very much missed by everyone especially the kids.

From the Community to Willem and Luuk we say                                     a huge thank-you.
We all know Currambena means the happy place but it also means watering place so no matter how far you go at some time you need to come back to drink. So till then Luuk and Willem, keep chasing those trails of self-discovery and adventure and we will, be seeing you!

Laura Aboriginal Dance and Music festival
This Thursday a group of parents and kids from the two top classes are off on safari to Queensland with Wendy to be part of this great festival. Fran will also be flying out Friday morning back Sunday night to join them. After the festival the group will be trekking south seeing more amazing sights and be back to Currambena the following Thursday.
It is so wonderful that we are finally going to this festival as we have had a standing invitation from Boori Pryor for years.

With love,
Julianna
