Julianna Term 3 Week 10

Hello Everyone,WOW!!! What a great concert last night. Congratulations to all performers, producers, stagehands and the teachers who put in hours of preparation with our young stars.

FRIDAY SOCIAL
Please remember we have our end of term social on Friday starting around 6pm.
Can each family bring a dish or two, enough to feed your family and a couple of extras.
Payman is coordinating the evening so if you can give her a hand either to set-up around 5.30pm or tidy up at the end of the evening this will also make it an enjoyable evening for her too.
MAINTENANCE HOURS
Have you written your hours in the book???
I will be doing the tally on Thursday morning. Meanwhile the school needs another good sweeping with all the leaves that have fallen.
Olivia is shifting her room so any help you can give with the move would go to your maintenance hours. Please coordinate with Olivia.

ACCOMODATION WANTED
We have two students Luuk and Willem from the Netherlands studying Sports and Development at the Hanze University in Groningen who are coming to work in Currambena from February till around August 2009. It is there final year of study.
They have asked if there is any possibility of accommodation close to Currambena that is not so expensive.
Are there any families interested in accommodating them? Please come and talk to me in the office.

Julianna Week 9 Term 3

Hello Everyone,
After the information morning our next big event last week was on Friday when a presentation was given from BUNNA LAWRIE who has been involved in the making of the film WHALEDREAMERS which is being released in the next week. It is a documentary about the Mirning people of South Australia and their connection with the Southern Right Whales. An AAP journalist and Channel 7 were also here to film, too! Hearing about Binna’s journey was very special for everyone and our kids asked some great questions.
If you get the chance, go and see the film.
All our primary kids and teachers are going to see it tomorrow, Thursday.

CONCERT
Remember this fabulous event is happening next Tuesday 23rd September with Preschool starting at 6pm on the dot!!
If you are 5 minutes late you will miss their show!
This is a very exciting and for some a very nervous time so it is very important for our performers to be at the hall in plenty of time for them to costume up and be settled into character before the curtain goes up.
If you are late and a class is performing PLEASE wait till they have finished before coming into the hall.
Any talking, whispering and scrapping of chairs makes it very difficult for the children to be heard.
This concert is very important to our all our performers and even though we do not charge $150 per seat just assume you are walking into the Opera house and all the same courtesies apply.
Door fee $5.00 per individual or $15.00 per family CONCERT LOCATION - St Andrews Church Hall Corner of Kenneth and Christina Street Longueville

SCHOOL PHONE.
A reminder all social arrangements between kids please organise at home.

Julianna Term 3 Week 8

Hello Everyone,

In spite of the wet and cold we had a great turn out for the Café and collected more funds for our Laura trip 2009. Thank-you so much to Payman for organizing and setting up everything for the afternoon and to all those you supplied the delicious eats.
Thank-you to all the sweepers and gathers for the terrific clean-up that was done yesterday at the school, especially to Trish and Joshua who have practically licked the place clean with the BIG blower!!

Julianna Term 3 Week 7

Hello Everyone,

Mmm, I am definitely smelling spring in the air especially walking early in the morning with the delightful, wafting perfumes of all the various flowers in bloom. As far as I am concerned the warm weather can’t get here quick enough ! I am sick of coming home to a cold house and my poodle cross is a woolly matted mess and definitely needs a very short clip.

THANK-YOU - to Anna-Marie, Andrew and Patrick who have been doing heaps of work this week on our school computer system. - Libby (Alex’s Mum in Preschool) who has very kindly donated a microscope to the school.

Love,

Julianna

REMINDER This Friday we have our afternoon cafe so please come for a catch-up with our community and if possible donate a plate to the tea table. The money raised is going to our 2009 Laura Trip.

Julianna Term 3 Week 6

Hello Everyone,

We have had to change some dates for up and coming events.

The Café has been moved from Friday 12th to next week Friday 5th September.

The Concert is now on Tuesday 23rd September as we could not get the hall for the Wednesday. Some families are away early for their holidays so that counted out Thursday and Friday

Let’s have a wee chat about the school phone. Rule of thumb is that the kids can use the phone in collaboration with their teacher and usually this is if they are sick and need to go home. All social arrangements please organise at home.
ALL CALLS now have a flat rate of .50cents

We are back to work with the brick classrooms renovations and our goal is to have it all finished for Term 4. My mantra each day is “this is a reality not a dream”

The reports back from the Preschoolers after testing the covered walkway with buckets of water for its rainproof effectiveness were very positive. Thank-you very much to all you quality control Preschool Testers.

After a short stop during our registration week I am back on the case chasing the contractors to have the renovations of the two classrooms finished for next term!!

Up and coming events are an afternoon cafe on Friday 12th September then we have set a tentative date for the concert for the last Wednesday of term 24th September pending the confirmation for the booking of the hall.

Julianna Term 3 Week 4

Hello Everyone,
Last Wednesday we had another successful information morning and more enrolments for next year as a result. Thank-you so much to all those who assisted. If you have not noticed the covered walkway down from office is all finished! The Preschoolers are going to test it today and give me a report.

I am not so vocal this week as I have my head buried in some big cloud business with the IT techs so will keep you posted……

Julianna Term 3 Week 3

Hello Everyone,

I am getting lots of wonderful praises about the CASP programme so I would like to pass on our thanks to Colin, Sarah, Emma, Julia, Rowena, and Steven who work in CASP. Apparently parents are having to coordinate to all arrive at the same time as the kids definitely do not want go home early!!!

Our visit from the Board of Studies was quite taxing and they are recommending that we be registered for the maximum years with some further paperwork needed.

Thank-you to all the busy beavers who were here on Monday to clean, sweep, tidy and generally make our school look gorgeous. A special thanks to our cleaners who have been doing lots of little extras over the last week or so. Even the chicken got into the fray and had themselves adorned with extra bling in the form of florescent paint!

URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!

I’m aware that there are a number of IT literate people among the parent community. We urgently need your help now.

Our existing server is over 10 years old and bursting at the seems. We are about to upgrade to a new system but lack the knowledge to identify and specify what we need - and there seems to be a plethora of very confusing terms out there!

If you’ve got any knowledge at all that can help us we’d like to hear from you. Don’t be concerned that you’re not an ‘expert’ - we’re just looking for input and advice. Ideally we can get a group of people around a table to specify a solution which we can then seek quotations on. But if you just want to shoot us off an email with your input then that would be fine too.

So now is an opportunity for you to put your experience to good use for your child’s benefit. Please leave your comments and contact details with Julianna in the office (email, call or visit) and we’ll go from there!

RENOVATIONS
There has been a short delay with the renovations in the double classrooms as our key player is down with a horrible flu virus.

The installing of our permanent covered walkway is all happening this Friday.

MOOCOOBOOLA FAIR
The Fair had a magic day and reports from our parents were that the Currambena stall looked great.
Thank-you to Aarhon for all your hard work.

ALL FEES ARE DUE on THURSDAY 7TH AUGUST. Late fees will incur a $100 late fee unless a payment plan has been emailed or written to myself before this due date.

Julianna Term 3 Week 2

Hello Everyone,
Thank-you to Barry Nissen Brock’s (in Wendy’s class) grandad who has done a superb job restoring the old Currambena sign. We are expecting to hang it on the brick wall up by the top sandpit. Some interesting developments are happening around the school if you haven’t already noticed. Around the back of the double classrooms we have a row of water tanks connected to the top and bottom toilets and under Fran’s class we have large bladder connected to Preschool toilets.
All these tanks will be collecting rainwater which will supply the toilets and are also plumbed to revert to mains water when necessary.

Renovations have started in the double classrooms with a permanent wall erected between the rooms and the timber floor has been sanded and polished in the spare room. More action will be happening this weekend.

The painting of the main building has been completed we are now contemplating what colour to do the front door for that Currambena statement.

The current status on the permanent covered walkway from the office to the preschool area is that we are waiting for materials which should be here very soon. I will be very happy to see our make-shift tarp cover donated to the cubby builders.

MOOCOOBOOLA FAIR
This is our chance for the hands-on advertising of Currambena. Just one hour would be great or the whole day if you can.

Julianna Term 3 Week 1

Hello Everyone,
Welcome back. I actually saw some Mums running in the gate so I gather two weeks is ample break time for the kids.

YET AGAIN THANK-YOU TO THAT MAGIC CREW, Steven, Ross, Fysh, Jackie, Michael, Dave, Amba, and Anthony that came in before school started and did such a fabulous clean-up. Chris was delighted with the craft room.

Our Laura gathering and café was wonderful with heaps of people and a wonderful cornucopia of food. We also collected a bag of money which will be added to our 2009 Laura trip fund.

URGENTLY NEEDED
A parent who knows how to configure a Windows Server 2003 domain controller and also set up users for the domain. Hopefully with the result of replicating the current setup (more or less).
Please speak to me if you can help
