Julianna Term 2 Week 10

Hello Everyone,

Remember this Sunday is our 40th Reunion which is going to be a really fun day listening to 1969 music, catching up with past pupils and old friends, swapping stories and sharing food at the community lunch. Which reminds me, don’t forget to bring that favourite family dish.

Please read the teachers pages to get all the stories from Laura. The feedback in the office is that they had a fantastic time.

We also have good news from our Build Team, the DA to Lane Cove Council was submitted yesterday. If you have not noticed the building plans for the new classroom are on the pin board outside Wendy’s classroom.

Remember next week is the last week of school so…..
Anyone with fees owing need to settle their account
All maintenance hours need to be WRITTEN IN THE BOOK!

With love,
Julianna

Julianna Term 2 Week 9

Hello Everyone,

This week has been so quiet! Yesterday all the primary kids took off to Taronga zoo and so we only had the Preschoolers. It actually felt a little eerie in the school, even the chickens were wondering around looking rather perplexed, no doubt they were missing their favourite lunches!!!!

Reports have come in about the Laura trip and all is well and the festival sounds like it was an extraordinary experience. Next week we will have the full story in the newsletter.

Today I have been totally engrossed in the meeting with the Buildteam and everything is so close to submitting our building plans to Lane Cove Council for the DA Wow!
Our Buildteam is continuing to do brilliant work. If you see Jessica, Rachel, Danni, Myung Jin or Elaine in the play ground a cheer of encouragement would be great as this is an iron woman race run, swim and peddle!

Julianna

Julianna Term 2 Week 8

Hello Everyone,

Last Friday night we had a fabulous social!
The food as usual was scrumptious, Steve got a roaring fire going in a large brazier on the top deck and our two Dutch boys entertained everyone with two very funny performances.
This is Willem and Luuk’s last week at Currambena. They will leave a big hole in the school with their going and they will be very much missed by everyone especially the kids.

From the Community to Willem and Luuk we say                                     a huge thank-you.
We all know Currambena means the happy place but it also means watering place so no matter how far you go at some time you need to come back to drink. So till then Luuk and Willem, keep chasing those trails of self-discovery and adventure and we will, be seeing you!

Laura Aboriginal Dance and Music festival
This Thursday a group of parents and kids from the two top classes are off on safari to Queensland with Wendy to be part of this great festival. Fran will also be flying out Friday morning back Sunday night to join them. After the festival the group will be trekking south seeing more amazing sights and be back to Currambena the following Thursday.
It is so wonderful that we are finally going to this festival as we have had a standing invitation from Boori Pryor for years.

With love,
Julianna

Hello Everyone,

How exciting we have two social events in two weeks!
Tomorrow is the warm up night at our AGM with soup and bread and next week is our major Term Two social with extraordinary Aussie food, music and banter to say good-bye to Luuk and Willem. So let’s give them a Currambena Ozzie night to never forget!!!

CURRAMBENA AGM,
HOT SOUP AND BREAD NIGHT!

Tomorrow night Thursday 4th June.
We are starting the evening at 5.00pm and are asking each family to bring food to share like soup and rolls
So if you want it hot, bring your pot and we can have it sitting on the BBQ plate to keep warm
If you can help to set-up a bit before  5pm that would be much appreciated.
CURRAMBENA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will start then at 6.00PM

MIDTERM SOCIAL TO FAREWELL our Dutch boys
Next Friday 12th June
So here is the chance to bring along that favourite family dish to share.

GRANTS
We have applied for two grants since early May. The first one I am sure you are all aware of which is to build a new classroom and the second was for $75,000 which is part of the National School Pride Program. Last week we received excellent news that we have been successful in this second grant and will know about the first grant in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile our Build team is working around the clock to get all the necessary plans and reports together to submit the DA to Lane Cove Council.
Over the July school holidays we will take the opportunity using a portion of the $75000 grant to upgrade the top toilets and incorporate a store room.

With love,
Julianna

Julianna Term 2 Week 1

Hello Everyone,

All of us who went to the NZ conference had a fabulous time and are all firing with new ideas and totally re-energized for another exciting term at Currambena.
Being part of and sharing the energy and passion of a wide range of people truly triggers the brain. We discussed and debated, listened, ate sumptuously, learned new skills, took photos, got lost in a little city!!!, made new contacts, explored two other great schools and in keeping to our Currambena philosophy we played every day.

Thank-you to the maintenance team who had the school looking well loved and attended to for school starting. A special thanks to Amba for being chief organizer.

You may notice the arborist people were in during the break and most of our trees have had a gentle make-over.

With love,
Julianna
