Julianna… Term 4 Week 5

Hello Everyone,

CONCERT IN THE PARK

How chic is that! And, it was fabulous, gorgeous and wonderfully entertaining.

Thank-you to all our amazing performers

A big big thank-you to all our teachers, student teachers and assistants who put in many hours of passion, energy and a teeny bit of frustration to produce our lovely concert.

A very special thanks to the ‘Behind the Scenes Crew’ (or to the side see photo) who sweated, laboured, did mini acrobatics to string ropes, lift and move generators, jumped hoops with music management, packed utes and vans, drank beer……..

As to the stuck bus not sure what the final outcome of that was?

COST FOR THE CONCERT was $10.00 per family. Our big kids were running around on the evening collecting the money but if you were unable to pay we would love you to drop it into the office.

YEAR SIX KIDS GOODBYE…..A farewell café Wednesday 16th December for our year six kids  and possible spillover into the evening for those long party creatures.  The Currambena community has such a multitudes of social events that we practically had to draw straws to get our date locked in!!!!!

REMINDER

Any families who have not paid their enrolment fee please be reminded only this locks you in for a place next year. Also if Sue has given you papers to fill please get them back to the office

The ‘Taj bathroom’ is working on being finished soooon. Before Xmas I hope!

 Love Julianna

Hello Currambena!

CONCERT                                                                                                                            Friday 13 th November. 5.30pm  full assembly of all cast members from every class. 6.00pm SHARP silence will be called and the show will begin!  Please bring a picnic  dinner, a rug or two and possibly some camping lights. Location – Tambourine Bay (see attached map).

Boxes of  BEAUTIFUL 2010 CALENDARS are here in the office.      It would be really helpful if a couple of parents could set up under the blue umbrella and start selling them. A single calendar is $18.00, two or more are $15.00 each.

 RENOVATIONS

Our bathroom is coming along beautifully. We had a couple of anxious days putting various innovative barricades up across the door way to keep out inquisitive feet!!! I was in a quandary as to whether I should warn the kids or not. Warning them that stepping on the floor tiles before they are dry will move them out of position could possibly be an irresistible temptation  to prove me wrong or oops…… she was right!!@$

 THANK-YOU

If you have not been up to our library recently please pop in. Kerrie and her helpers are doing a wonderful job with beautiful mural paintings on the walls around the verandah and lots of enticing books on display. Thank-you, thank-you all you creative library people.

RESIDENCY STATUS

A newly added  requirement for our census which is linked to our funding is the residency status of every student. I have put a template on the back of the newsletter which I would really appreciate if you could fill it in and return it to the office

 REMINDER

All fees for school and CASP  are due Thursday 12 th November. If you are being challenged by this deadline please speak to me now.

Julianna Term 4 Week 1

Hello Currambena!

Hope everyone had a lovely break. Lots of things were happening here at the school. Upgrades were being done around our IT and phones, trekking around various tile and bathroom showrooms to purchase new bathroom accessories, conversing with the tradespeople stripping out and renovating the staff bathroom, emergency tree surgery for falling gum branches and in between all this I did have some time at home which I spent buried in my garden making and planting out new vegie beds. The only challenge in all this lovely activity was come Monday Coordination day I was feeling a wee bit puffed!

But as usual the beginning of the term started in full swing. The phones were not working, tradespeople needed answers, emails were not sending, numerous phone calls to telstra, the staff fridge gurgled and whinged all through staff meeting then died, both phone lines were diverted to my mobile, more instant decisions needed with the bathroom renovation and then I left my mobile at home Wednesday…………. So  today my first call is to apologise if your calls were not answered but at last we are back on track and all technology is up and running again.  Hope it is all Cool Running for next week.

THANK-YOU

To Amba for coordinating our holiday care  and to all those who helped with the supervision

To Amba again for being up at an unnecessary hour to open up for the tradespeople every morning

To all the energetic people who were here on Sunday getting our gorgeous Currambena all ship shape for Monday

Canteen. The roster will be  up on the notice board for canteen. Please fill in the blanks if you can. I will be putting the roster in the newsletter each week so everyone is aware of whose on canteen the following Monday or not.

 Phew, what a week!

 With love,

   Julianna

Julianna Term 3 Week 10

Hello Currambena!

Whew! End of term has come, I am really looking forward to less driving.

Thank-you to all the helpers at the Bush Dance. The local grapevine was telling me people had a great night.

Thank-you Sue for offering to collect our library book from Stanton Library.

Thank-you to the tree house builders.                                                                           It  is a great success and is a constant hive of activity with the kids. I have a birds eye view of all the various comings and goings from my office window so must remember to bring my camera.

Little things are happening around the school getting ready for the construction of our new building. The garden has been relocated, the green room is being completely cleared out and  timber is currently being salvaged from the top playground and reused on the tree house. We are finding all sorts of nooks and crannies for temporary storage.

 With love,

   Julianna

Julianna Term 3 Week 9

Hello Currambena!

What a dust storm!!!  When I arrived home last night just on sunset there was a lovely glow of red blanketing EVERYTHING in my house. It was quite a daunting sight for someone who hates housework!!!

 REMINDERS

 Bush Dance

social  this Friday starting at 5.30pm. The band will kick off at 7pm. Please bring food to share, enough for your family and two extras.

Canteen. If you put your name down for canteen then have to cancel please find a replacement. On Monday come 10.30am I was suddenly in the roll of canteen Mum!!!! Funny that and I don’t have any kids at the school. It is an expectation and many kids arrive at school on Monday with money only.

You must ring security and advise them of your time period if you come into the school in the weekend and de-activate the alarm system. The number is stuck on the office window.

GRANT SUBMISSION

If I haven’t already mentioned it, you will be happy to know that our submission for a solar grant has been accepted. This will mean that we will  have a bank of solar panels installed on the roof and so help to reduce our electricity costs.

LIBRARY BOOK TO BE COLLECTED. Some-one has accidentally returned a Currambena  book to Stanton Library in North Sydney called “Lets Go Home Little Bear’ by Martin Wardell. If anyone is in this library we would love this book collected and returned to Currambena.

 With love,

Julianna

Julianna Term 3 Week 8

Hello Currambena!

THANK YOU   To Eduardo for building our temporary storeroom .  It looks great.

To Steve for hanging a notice board in the photocopy room ;  I can now write up all the phone messages instead of constantly running around looking for teachers!

To Brian our in-resident Leafbuster who arrives dressed in Psychedelic yellow, blowing up a storm  and half an hour later the school is so pristine clean you wonder if you have the wrong school. Consequently the grounds were  immaculate for our information morning on Wednesday.

To Robyn for lending Sisse  a benchtop oven. What a gorgeous community we have which makes it such a pleasure and a delight for me to work here.

Information morning Thank-you Wendy, Sue and the kids and parents who were helping.  Also to all the fabulous sweepers. We had a big turn out of 25.

DANCE SOCIAL 25TH SEPTEMBER   Which is next week so start your stretches and limbering up now!

REMINDER PLEASE   If you come into the school in the weekend and de-activate the alarm system you must ring security and advise them of what period of time you will be in the school. The number is stuck on the office window.

Julianna Term 3 Week 7

Hello Currambena!

 THANK-YOU

-To our gorgeous Tracy for producing our lovely newsletter each week. We look forward every week to your beautiful photos especially the cover shots.

-To our parents who come in on Monday and do a fabulous canteen.

-To all our wonderful CASP staff who run a very caring fun after school care program. It always amuses me when I hear the various conversations floating into the office. Parents being given a very clear message that they are….too early as the child has not had their bread time, or they have not had enough play time or they want to stay right to the end!

LOOKING FOR… Sisse our Danish student teacher is staying in a studio flat in Bondi and she happened to mention yesterday that they have a cook top but no oven!!!!  So my request to the community is … does anyone have a working bench top oven that they are not using and could lend to Sisse till they leave in   late January.

Dance social  Friday 25thSeptember                                                                          We have a bush band booked!     If it is still cold we will start up Steve’s firepit so either way it should be a hot September night. So a big circle on the calendar please.

Hello Currambena!

 THANK-YOU

- For a great café last Friday the grapevine tells me it was a lovely afternoon with heaps of people and plenty of yummy things to eat.

- To our Buildteam and to all those who attended the evening to discuss the landscaping of the new playground.

- To all our teachers for all the time and care you have put in for each and every half hour parent interview.

2010 Calendar

The first draft has come out and is now in the final refining stages so please be ready to order next year’s fabulous Currambena calendar celebrating 40 Years of Inspired Learning!

 NITS

Current livestock numbers are at critical mass in some classrooms and becoming a rather tedious bother for parents.

So the suggestion is that the parents of each class get together, pick  an agreed weekend and everyone do the big wash. To get a good hit you will more than likely need to do two weekends in a row.

 Activities coming soon…….

Dance social  Friday 25th September

We have a bush band booked!

If it is still cold we will start up Steve’s firepit so either way it should be a hot September night.

So a big circle on the calendar please.
