Olivia’s Class Week 6 Term 3

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday we had a mammoth class meeting and many decisions were made. I am so proud of how reflective and thoughtful all the children are. They really worked hard to understand and respect other people’s perspectives. We made some decisions on excursions, pack away time and many other issues. Speaking of excursions, I have booked a visit to the observatory for Thursday 24th September starting at 6:00 pm (yes the night before the school social). We have a booking for a limited amount of people which means I need to find out if all the children will be attending so that I can figure out how many adults can come. Please could you let me know a.s.a.p. if your child/ren will be attending. The children also voted that they would like to have dinner at school before we go and they have decided upon sushi and Crust pizza. I will get menu’s from both places and order whatever the children want before we all walk up and collect it. I will ask all children to bring a some money for their own dinner but the observatory will come out of our excursion fund.

I have also booked our class camp to Mowbray Park for Wednesday and Thursday the 9th and 10thDecember. I would like to start gathering numbers of parents who think they will be coming with us so please come and tell me about this as well.

This week a student teacher from UTS has started her two week prac in our class. Her name is Ruby and we welcome her into our class and into Currambena.

We are still learning about telling time in maths and Ruby has begun to teach them all about the calender also. It is really important with such subjects as this that they practice practice practice so any possible time that you have at home please ask them to tell the time or discuss the date.

Our personal interest projects which are (loosely) due at the end of this week are looking fantastic. We will be hanging them all up this Friday for display so please come and check them all out. Next week we will start thinking about ways to present all the information to the rest of the class.

Lastly, NITS ARE BACK! There are a few scratching heads in the class so please check your child for nits and treat accordingly.

That’s all for this week, have a good one!

From Olivia.
