Preschool Newsletter Week 7 Term 2

Hello Everyone

This week we have been making a marine scene on the big wall. We have painted the sea and are adding paper sea creatures. We also have a blue fabric ocean with plastic fish, sponges and pebbles to play with. In Craft we hope to make some life size sea creatures. We have also been sewing cushions and sea creatures using the sewing machine and making and eating vegetarian sushi.

We are also preparing for the excursion to the Sydney Aquarium at Darling Harbour next Tuesday 16th June 2009. Yesterday we made agreements about the excursion. They are up on the window near the sign on sheet. Children will need to be at school by 9.30am. They will not be taking their backpacks. Their lunch will be carried by an accompanying adult. Children will need to bring their morning tea, lunch and drinks wrapped in wax paper and put in a clearly named paper or plastic bag so that it can be carried in the accompanying adult’s backpack.

We have enough parents for the excursion  now, thank you. Each adult will be given three or four children for the day. Adult helpers please bring a backpack and a mobile phone. Children will need to stay with their assigned adult for the duration of the day. We have hired a bus to take us to the aquarium at 9.45am. The bus will return and pick us up at 1.30pm. We should be back at school by 2.00pm. The cost for the excursion is $22.00 per child and per adult helper. Please pay one of the teachers as soon as possible. Thanks!!

We have had quite a few children arriving late. Preschool starts at 9.00am, with Morning Meeting at roundabout 9.40am. It really helps children settle and feel part of the preschool day if they arrive well before morning meeting so they have time to play.  The whole school meeting will be at 9.30am again for this Friday.

There is a “Farewell to Luuk and Willem Social” this Friday at about 6.00pm. Please come and have a happy time with the Currambena community and say goodbye to Luuk and Willem.  It has been so wonderful having Willem and Luuk’s energy, passion, energy, effervescent good spirits and true care for each child…as well as fantastic sports and dance sessions each week. We will surely miss our Dutch boys!!

The lost property has been put out up at the blue umbrella and at preschool ready for you to claim. We have had a discussion in School Meeting about the amount of lost property and are finding ways to return it to its rightful owners and also stop it from accumulating.

There are headlice about so can every family check their hair and treat if necessary. This needs to become a weekly routine so that it is contained. See the following website for information-

Thanks to everyone who has done our washing and also cut up easel paper.

Our remaining ginger mouse died during the night. We have been discussing the possibility of getting more mice.

Love from Sue, Chris and Gabriela.
