Building the Education Revolution update
In the past week we have met with a variety of people to progress the plans and to get together the information and costings that we need for the funding application. Things have been very busy but also getting very exciting.
We met with Lane Cove Council regarding their planning requirements and our intention to put in a development application in a short while. They advised us of their need for a heritage consultant to look at any plans to build on the site, as well as the need for their tree planners to come and take a look at what trees must be preserved at the school and their sustainability consultant to look at the plans from that perspective.
Mark Baxter, the architect who developed the master plan for the school has agreed to continue to work with us to develop the plans so they can be costed for our funding application. Mark is very experienced in school design projects and we are very pleased to be working with him. He said he was inspired after our initial meeting, which seems to be a good place to start!
It looks likely that the building that we will apply for funding to build will be a purpose-built preschool and we are investigating the details of this at the moment.
Jess Kimber spoke to the students at school meeting last week and let them know what is going on, staff were briefed at their meeting on Monday and school council have been briefed and will meet soon to consider the initial brief and the appointment of the architect. We will keep you up to date as much as possible through the newsletter each week, without boring you to sleep!
Jess Kimber (parent of Darcy in Fran’s and Scarlett in Preschool) is our community liaison and is at school every day and happy to take questions in person or via email: jkimber01@bigpond.com
