CASP Term 2 Week 6

CASP has been going well this term. Julia has been away doing a teaching prac and we have been ably assisted by Rowena who has been working several afternoons a week. Rowena is a recent teaching graduate and we are fortunate to have had her help. Also thank you to Sarah for filling in extra shifts. Julia is back now so we will be seeing more of her for the rest of the term.

On Tuesdays for the rest of this term we are assisted by two year 10 girls who are doing part of their community service for school at CASP. They are Leda who is a former student of Currambena and Phoebe. They are already popular with the children as well as their help being gratefully received by CASP staff.

Last week we finally found some nice lengths of bamboo which we had been searching for all term. This has been used for fishing rods and also for building various structures. The vision of a giant geodesic dome has never quite materialized but we have enjoyed tents and teepees. More structures are planned for this week weather permitting.

The older children have enjoyed making fresh avocado dip from avocadoes and lemon juice over the last few Mondays. Also Nachos using plain corn chips with melted cheese. We love seeing children so keen to prepare food.

The farmers and mice game is still popular with the younger children although there is often a shortage of farmers since everyone wants to wear the tails for the mice.

Other activities last week included making fans decorated with pictures of butterflies and fairies, and also dinosaur stencils coloured with pearlescent paints.

With less daylight and colder and wetter weather this term we are spending more time indoors. We have recently purchased some new board games but any donations of board or card games from home would be gratefully received

Love Colin, Sarah, Julia, Emma and Rowena.
