Congratulations to everyone who assisted with the Social Event last Friday. It was a great success. I was particularly proud of the piano players, who did a wonderful job entertaining the crowd on the new keyboard! Great work! Fran and Sue are delighted that we now have a committee formed to look into the possibilities of a trip to Laura for the Dance Festival next year. It is a magnificent opportunity and well worth investigating. Thank you to the people who did all the clearing away at the end of the evening, too. Much appreciated.
This week is a short one but is full and busy as usual. We are designing and building bridges as part of our Theme about Oceans. There are some magnificent constructions happening and this has coincided, fortuitously, with Elaine Gazzini visiting us as our “Scientist in School”. Elaine is a Preschool parent and an engineer and we have joined the CSIRO program which supports real live scientists visiting schools and working with teachers and students. Already Elaine has made some great connections with the group and offered some very interesting suggestions for our current projects. I hope she will be able to come and participate when we test our bridges for their load-bearing capacity!
In Maths, we are deeply into decimals and in English, we are looking at different language features in spoken and written texts and also comparing language use in newspaper reports and literary texts. We did a lot of work with The Australian newspapers we received all last week. We have the Art Gallery on Thursday with lunch in the Botanical Gardens. We are all looking forward to that and then the four day weekend for Easter.
Thank you to Helen and Chris R. for taking the group today while I work on the registration documents. It will all be posted off on 31st March.
Have a great Easter break everyone. Be safe and have fun.
Love, Wendy
