Dear Parents and Carers
The social on Friday was fun – absolutely delicious food and excellent company. Thanks to Payman for organising it. Thanks to all who came to the Laura Meeting. Thank you, too, to Tracy, Jess and Karen for volunteering to be on the committee to organise an excursion to the Laura Dance Festival in 2009.
Tomorrow is our excursion when we finally get to go on the big bus with all the big kids! There has been a countdown in preschool with great excitement each day. Please be here by 9.30am, sign the permission form tomorrow morning and bring lunch and morning tea in a paper bag. We have four parents coming with us – Lisa, Payman, Kim and Ann. Please pay the $9.00 if you have not done so!!
This week there is an art gallery in preschool, with books on artists, beautiful pastels and oil pastels to draw with and an easel with a palette for mixing colours. We have also been looking at artists’ work and drawing and painting our inspirations. On the big wall is a collection of drawings painted with intense watercolours that reflect feelings. We have also been doing relaxation meditations at the end of the day.
This week we have been talking about the school fence and what to do if someone talks to you through the fence. The children have cited a number of reasons why we have a fence – to keep cars out of preschool and to keep really little children from wandering onto the road and into the traffic. Our preference is that if someone says hello, children can say hello, and then they should come down to preschool and tell us. The fence also has trees and plants next to it and you can’t climb up those.
There is a playgroup at school every Friday morning. This is for parents and their children aged 0-5 years old so if you would like to attend, just come along.
Thank you to all the wonderful people who have done our washing and worked in preschool this week -Kim for spending the day with us and making sausage rolls, cleaning and doing all kinds of odd jobs.Rachael and Patrick for the paper, reading stories, fixing the basketball hoop, sweeping and playing.Rachel (Sam’s mum) for cleaning and bringing her keyboard and playing and singing with the children.
Does anyone have access to a supply of A4 paper? Please see one of us if you do.
Have a very happy long weekend! Love from Sue, Chris and Soojin.
