Preschool Term 1 Week 6

Dear Parents and Carers

This week we have been talking about feelings; the facial expressions associated with different feelings; what you feel like as you experience each feeling; and what to say if you are angry. We have also been talking about sharing; that you do not need to share what you are playing with, but how you can negotiate turns. We have also been doing an outside obstacle course.

There is a Social on Friday 14th March at 6.00pm. Bring a plate of food to share (enough for 6-8 people and no nuts or kiwifruit) and some drinks and come and meet the Currambena community.

At 6.45pm there will be a presentation by Fran and I on the fantastic trip we took with Chris to Laura, in Queensland, last year to research a possible school excursion to the Laura Dance Festival in 2009. There are amazing, wonderful experiences to be had for the Currambena community in the Laura area – ancient Aboriginal rock art, Aboriginal guides describing Aboriginal life in ancient and present times, the Daintree Rainforest, bush walking , bush camping and a rich history. The Laura Dance Festival that is held every two years and Currambena is incredibly privileged to have been invited to attend this by Boori Pryor and his family. We will discuss how we can make this happen.

We are going on a whole school excursion to the NSW Art Gallery to see the Art Express Exhibition on Thursday 20th March. We will travel by bus. The bus will leave school at 9.45am and drop us at the Art Gallery. We will visit Art Express and look at other art as well. We will then go and have lunch in the Botanical Gardens. The bus will pick us up from the Art Gallery at 1.30pm and drop us back at school. We will need two or three parent helpers so if you would like to come please speak to Sue. Children will need to be at school at 9.30am. They will need their lunch in a named paper bag – please send food and drinks in disposable containers. No lunch boxes and drink bottles please! The cost for this excursion is $9.00 per person – child and adult.

Is there a parent who would be willing to put up a “Maintenance Noticeboard” outside the staffroom? This will be a place for the community to see, at a glance, what maintenance needs to be done. The idea is that anyone noticing a job that needs to be done will write it there and then someone needing to do maintenance will do it. We have the whiteboard; we just need someone to put it up.

Thanks to all the people who have cut paper and done our washing this week.

Love from Sue. Chris and Soojin.
